Hello! I’m Lauren aka Madam Mix-a-Lot, aka the baker and cake artist behind all of sugary goodness you’ll find here on my website. 🙂

I loved baking ever since I was a kid.  I blame/thank my unforgiving sweet tooth for at least half of that love.  Before I was tall enough to reach the stove, I was the proud owner of the highly coveted Easy Bake Oven.  Anytime there was an opportunity for me to help bake, I was front and center, ready to volunteer.  The other half of my love of baking came from my passion for visual art.  I am a (mostly) self taught artist, who dabbles in everything from ceramics to watercolors.

I began taking my cake baking/decorating more seriously just a couple of years ago, when my mom had a birthday coming up.  I was so underwhelmed by all of the store bought cakes I saw in grocery stores that I decided to take a stab at making a homemade cake!  After that, I was hooked.

I found my niche in modeling detailed fondant figures and decorations after I became bored with commercial cake toppers. I wanted each baked creation I sent out of my kitchen to be carefully detailed and unique so as to truly capture the essence of the cake’s theme.  I believe that the “wow” factor of a cake can and should be unique to the recipient.

When the recipient of one of my cakes sees what they envisioned in all of it’s edible glory right before their eyes, I know mission has been accomplished.  🙂
